Exercise & Movement

Tips and resources to keep movement and exercise in your life from the Can Do MS community.

Exercise Bikes

“I have an exercise bike right in the middle of my living room. My rule is that the only thing allowed on the bike is me (no clothes, bags, etc.) and that I absolutely must ride it for at least 10 minutes every single day. So far this year, I’ve only missed a handful of days, and having the bike partially blocking the view of my tv from the couch is a great reminder of the promise I’ve made to myself to keep moving for as many years as possible.”

Yoga

“I attend classes with yoga studios that have an online option so if I’m not feeling up to driving and/or seeing people, I can still participate with a live class vs. following a recording.”

Virtual Classes

“I take a Pilates class 3 times a week. My teacher started a SKYPE class when COVID started, and I continue taking her online class. She does modify some exercises for my abilities”

Aquacise

I found an online MS aquacise routine. Doing many of our MS exercises in a waist-deep swimming pool area allows me to walk without aids, and adapt many of Mandy’s exercises so I can do them in the pool and still get a very good workout.
